CJSのまつり！

こんにちは！まつりはLOWSTEPSでありました！おもしろかったですよ！わたしはボラテイアでしたよ。じんじゃではたらきました。じんじゃにえまにねがい（WISH)をかいたり、CONTRAPTIONにえまがつきます。

それから、にほんごのせんせいはPERFORMANCEをしました！うたいました！おどれました！とてもすばらしかったです！わたしはビデオをつくりました。みましょう！

学校のよんねんせいとき、ともだちとえいがをつくりました。ともだちはダイレクトア（Director)ですが、私はプロヅサ（Producer)とリイドアクトル (Lead Actor)です。えいがのなまえは：レチャルライベリ（Lethal Library.)です。わたしとともだちはとしょかんではたらきましたから、としょかんでえいがをつくりました。このえいがはわるいですが、おもしろいだとおもいます。でも、ちょっとはずかしいです。。。
こんしゅのしゅまつになにもしませんから、レチャルライベリについてポストをかきました。はずかしいだっても、わたしのがっこうでいちばんすきなおもいでですよ。

わたしのマホぼうし。

わかいとき、どくしょがきらいでした。まいにちクラスによみかたをならいましたけど、たいへんだとおもいました。げんきじゃなかったですよ。よむことができませんでしたから。レタスをわすれました。

あのにち、とてもおおきくて、くろいぼうしをかぶっているひとはみちをあるきました。

“すごい!とてもおおきいぼうしですね！”といいます。

ぼうしさんは“はい、マホですよ。”といいます。

“いいですね!おおきいぼうしは、なにをすることができますか。”といいます。

ぼうしさんはおもいだすことができるといいます。わたしはレタスをおもいだすことができるといいます。

“くろくて、マホぼうしをかぶったら、レタスをわすれません。”といいます。

“くろくて、マホぼうしをかしていただきますか。”といいます。

ぼうしさんは“いいえ。くろくて、マホぼうしをあげます。”といいます。

それから、ぼうしさんはおおきくて、くろいぼうしをぬいだら、ちいさくてくろいぼうしをありました！

“ちいさいぼうしもマホです。”といいます。ぼうしさんはちさくて、くろくて、マホぼうしをくれました。

“どもありがとうございます。”といいます。

それから、まいにちちいさくて、くろくて、ぼうしさんがくれるぼうしをかぶりました。そして、どくしょがじょうずになりました。げんきなひとにないましたよ。それはわたしのおもいで。

Spirited Awayをみました。すてきなえいがですね！みやざきせんせいはいいdirectorですが、くろさわせんせいのほうがいちばんすきです。

今、ドンキホテ（Don Quixote）をよんでいます。ドンキホテはゆめいでCervantesかいたほんのしゅじんこうですよ。ドンキホテはへんで、あたまがわるいですが、おもしろいです。Knightだとおもいます。。。でも、ふるいで、よわいです。たいへんですね。
こうこのいちねんせいとき、これほんをよみました。よかったですよ！まいにちひるごはんをはやくたべたり、ほんをよみました。二、三月ぐらいかかりました。ドンキホテがだいすきです！

ニューヨークのなかでなにがしたいですか。イメパイア　ステトビルはゆうめいでとてもたかいビルです。

ひるごはんをたべなくてもいいです。じかんがありあませんから。

つぎにじゅうのめがみへいっしょにいきませんか。さんじゅよんちょうめのえきでいちばんおちかてつにのって、サウスフェリーえきでおります。リバチアイランドヘフェリでいきます。

ニューヨークにおいいレストランがあります。どんなりょうりがすきですか。ぜひハバナセントルにあいましょう。ハバナセントルはおいしいたべものがあります。このはるやすみにいっしょにあそばなければなりません。

こんにちわ！きのうBannerをつくりました。きれいなブログをつくりたいですから、わたしのBannerのなかでどれがいちばんきれいですか。おねがい、コメントになんのばんがすきです,入れてください。

So yeah, I made a lot of them. The structure is the same and I just varied the pictures used and at times the font. Any suggestions? I think I'm going to try black and white for a while before moving on to color. I'm also thinking of trying just one image with text instead of framing the text with the two of the same image.
Banners 9-11^
The images came from fonts called: Asian Dings, japanapush and Japanese designs, which I got from dafont.com. So I constructed them in Word and then screencaptured to display them here. Note, I'll crop out the red border for the actual banner.

So it looks like I'll have to start blogging regularly again, I hope I still have the resolve to make this page more interesting over the course of the semester. Lately the namesake Anjin-san has been on my mind because I'm actually using the novel he's from, Shogun, as my exhibit in my University Writing Essay. It's interesting to look at the romaji Japanese in the novel now, and seeing these little differences from what we're learning...I doubt that it was an error on Clavell's part, he devoted a lot of time to research, but I think it might be a matter of dialect or perhaps because the novel takes place in feudal Japan just before the Tokugawa Shogunate.
Examples ga arimasu!
一"Omi-san, this is so important, the most important time of your whole service, neh?"
I think in this instance it's to help Western readers understand the ne is a neh sound, not a nee (nii).

二"'Domo.' sometimes you say 'arigato.' A woman has to be very polite, senor. She says 'arigato goziemashita.'"
Goziemashita->ごじえました？ごぜいました？

三"Kare ni matsu yoni," Toranaga said curtly. "Gyoi." The samurai bowed and hurried away. Toranaga turned back to Blackthorne. "Nan ja, Anjin-san?"
Would Nan ja be like Nan da? (I'm pretty sure da is like informal desu or similar...)

四"Sonata wa oyogitama ka?"
Sonata is like anata? I readily assent I can't even begin to think in the tama form as opposed to oyogimasu or the few tenses we know.
And there are more things that arouse my curiousity but I think I'll close here.

こんにちわ！おげんきですか。きょはチャトクラブにいきました。たのしかったですが、うたがありません。。。ざねんですね。
わたしのふゆやすみはかんたんでした。いま、WisdomTeeth がありません。Aeneidをよみました。
こうこうのともだちにあいました。

I'm excited to be in Japanese class again, I tried to keep my knowledge fresh over the break but that ended up being some practice of kanji and saying そうですか randomly, only to garner odd looks from my companions...
Did you notice my blog changed!? I put cool features on the left side now!
Recently I tried this little program called Slime Forest (I put a link on the left side.), I learned about it from Nanneto-san. It's basically...kinda like an rpg in which you defeat monsters(Slimes) by typing out the readings of kana and kanji. It starts out with katakana, then as you make progress moves on to some hiragana. I haven't reached any kanji yet, I'm told they come in later. Anyway, I was really poor with katakana but playing the game has REALLY helped with my recognition (take that, quiz extra credit questions!) and reproduction. Unfortunately, it has this odd tendency to give me katakana that I've never before seen in my life (We and wi...maybe more). But it's only two or three characters so it's not too detrimental to facilitate learning the ones we actually use in class. Anyway, the story is rather simple. You're a potato farmer fighting slimes who steal gold and princesses. And, gasp, the princess has been kidnapped! It's up to the potato farmer to rescue her from certain...slimeyness. Really though, the game is about learning kana, ha ha.
In other news, Kendo had its first practice last Wednesday! We definitely have Kataoka-sensei teaching us on Wednesdays for the semester, which is a really big deal because he's a big guy in the kendo world (http://www.nyckendo.com/sensei.html). On Mondays it looks as though we'll have Milton-sensei, who works in Undergraduate Admissions and is able to join us in the spring semesters when his workload is light. So if you're ever interested in giving Kendo a try, both Monday and Wednesday we meet at 9:00, usually the beginner's class ends between 10 and 10:30, at Dodge Fitness Center, Aerobics room 4.
